So for Christmas my husband spent endless hours working on what he called “man stuff.” Christmas morning I woke up to find this beauty. Little did I know that “man stuff” could be such a special gift.
It was the sweetest gesture for someone who is not a dog person. When I let my dogs out of the back yard they both jumped on the flatbed trailer and were checking out their new house. So did I! A dog house this nice, who wouldn’t check it out?
Once we got it unloaded and in our back yard I decided to make it a little more girly, sparkly, and personalized. Tait had told me that he was going to put my dogs names on it, but decided to wait and let me do it because he knew I’d come up with a cute way to do it. He knows the way to my heart… The perfect excuse for crafting.
I went to Wal Mart and bought some chalkboards and marker pens to write the girls names on.
I also decided that their house needed a wreath (view DIY wreath blog post for instructions on how to make a deco mesh wreath) so my dear sweet mom made them a wreath while I made their chalk board name signs. Once done I hung the wreath and signs with a simple hammer and a couple nails.
The end product turned out absolutely perfect! It was so fun to add a little glitz and glam to this fancy dog house.
We had a very merry Christmas this year. My dear sweet husband spent endless hours making me the most thoughtful Christmas gift. He made the ultimate dog house of all dog houses. The best part is that he hates dogs, but he loves me! And I love my dogs! It was such a sincere gift. I seriously don’t know how I got so lucky to have such a wonderful husband.
Here is the masterpiece

Additionally he gave me some beautiful turquoise jewelry, new tack for my barrel horse, and a heel o matic so that I can improve my roping skills. I’m entering my first roping this coming week over new years and I’m so excited. Tait has been so supportive and helpful when it comes to my roping. He spends hours practicing with me. I’m a perfectionist and wouldn’t enter until I knew I could catch way more often than I miss.

I’m not so sure that Tait had as good of a Christmas as I did. He is so hard to shop for. However, I got him a drone, a bob berg belt, a new tooled leather wallet, and a couple other smaller things. The drone and belt were definitely his favorite.
It’s safe to say that Santa found us! However, the greatest gift wasn’t found in a store or under the Christmas tree, but was found in the hearts of our family and friends.
Here are some more photos from our Christmas.
I hope you all had as merry of a Christmas as we did.
So today we had a surprise birthday party for my sister in law Angela. She turned thirty this year, which is a big birthday so her husband wanted to make it special. He was so cute in his planning and cooked the food himself because he knew just what she liked. He designated me to do the decorating, which of course I was thrilled to do because I LOVE to decorate.
Happy birthday to this babe who is the most loving mom, wife, daughter, sister in law, friend ect. I hope that when I turn 30 and have had babies I make 30 look as good as she does. She is supermom who juggles her work (she’s a lawyer), ranch work (which is a full time job itself), taking her kids to extracurricular activities, and everything else that life throws at her. She does it flawlessly and makes it look so easy.
Happy birthday Angela! I hope it’s the best one yet!

Below are some photos of the decorations and some photos to capture some of the fun we had at the surprise party.
Vegas this year went by in the blink of an eye. It’s a trip that we look forward to every year and it always comes and goes in a flash. We didn’t get to do too much shopping this year because Tait was entered in every roping he could.
The world series finale is so much fun to watch, but takes all day to get through all the rounds. Tait and Ky rope great together and were hoping to win big like they did last year. They were 4th high call coming into the short round (meaning they were the 4th fastest time on 3 steers with one steer to go). The short round is a pretty big deal. There is over $1 million in payouts among the winners. They had all the contestants come in for a grand entry. Tait of course was the cutest, he made sure to give his horse Chuck some pets in the grand entry. The short round started at 50th high call. Talk about some nerves in anticipation. I was a wreck in the bleachers waiting for him to rope. All they had to do is catch and they would have won around $100 grand. When their turn came we all got really quiet and watched closer than ever before. However, luck wasn’t in their favor and they came up empty handed. When it gets to that point it is really the luck of the draw and they simply didn’t draw a good steer.
Although the roping didn’t pan out how we wanted we still came home with a little earnings, memories that will last a life time, and an appreciation for the world of team roping and rodeo.
I got to decorate my mother in law’s house for Christmas this past week. It was so much fun! I love love love to decorate! She’s been worried that her grandkids will think their grandma is boring if she didn’t get her Christmas up. We just couldn’t have that so we got it done before we leave for Vegas for the NFR for about 10 days.
Model baby Eleni sure loves grandmas Christmas tree.
My mother in law has each child and grandchild a custom stocking made. The two empty hooks are for the two grand babies. They are ordered, but we she doesn’t have them yet.
My mother in law’s favorite decoration is this cute small sign that says “sorry about grandma”
I hope you all have as much fun decorating for Christmas as I do!
The other day I was scrolling through my instagram looking for a picture and was surprised to find that I have never posted a picture of my favorite spot. Of all the times I’ve decorated and redecorated my house nothing beats this ledge. It is the one place I never change because I love it just how it is.
For those of you who don’t know me well, I’m sure you’ll be surprised to learn that I love antiques. On of the reasons this ledge is my favorite is because of all the antiques. The saddle that you see in the picture was given to me by my grandfather when I was a baby. The crates and horse harness came from my husbands grandfather. Antiques are so much more special when they are passed down from generation to generation.
I hope you all have just as meaningful of a spot in your home.
