Table and Bench Makeover Tutorial/ My New Patio Furniture

So I’ve been wanting some cute patio furniture. However, I hadn’t found anything I liked all summer. So I decided I was going to make my own! I’m all about the DIY! Below is how I made an old table into the perfect patio table. I also painted a pallet bench to match.

Before and After

I first choose my paint colors

I painted the bottom of the table turquoise

I then stained the top of the table and the bench, to make them darker, with the help of my cute nephew Oliver. (BTW gel stain doesn’t require you to sand off the current stain, saves tons of time

The stain had to dry for 8 hours. The next day I painted the table and bench, but first I taped off sections for the different colors. I measured the length of the table and divided it by the number of colors I wanted to use in order to know the width of sections to tape off.

I let the paint dry over night (actually a few nights because we got busy on the ranch, but that’s a whole different post) then I sanded them both to give them the distressed look.

Once they were sanded I finished by using a finishing wax. i just applied it to the entire table and bench with a clean rag. I let it dry for 15 minutes and then went over it with a clean rag to remove the excess wax.

The end result is my super cute new patio furniture.
